Vertical bursts v2.0 — applied to ALL 68 outings User thresholds (all required): At least 150 ft net elevation gain At least 0.12 mi recorded route distance At least 13% average grade (gain / horizontal route distance) Smoothed elevation; no crossing recording gaps No pace or heart-rate requirement No time limit or maximum distance Detection: elevation is interpolated on a 10 m distance grid and median-smoothed over approximately 40 m. Each recorded GPS segment is analyzed independently. A descent exceeding 30 ft ends an ascent run; smaller reversals are treated as noise/setbacks. There is no limit on the length or duration of a climb or flat section within a run. The greatest-net-gain qualifying interval is selected first, favoring longer spans on ties. Disjoint remaining portions are searched for additional qualifying climbs. This recognizes long hauls even with gentler/flat sections when their whole-span average grade still meets 13%. Burst gain is net elevation change, not summed positive GPS jitter. All routes use the same current method, replacing both older historical detections and the recent v1 repair. The archived reports marked v3.27 and earlier retain historical results. Current results are exports/vertical_bursts_all_tracks.json, exports/Vertical_Bursts_All_Tracks_Recalculation.csv and exports/Vertical_Bursts_All_Details.csv. Original route geometry, GPX, HR, distance/ascent totals, photos and recording pauses remain unchanged.
